Legislative Approval Required

Under most constitutional arrangements, the legislature’s approval is a necessary element in the process of incorporating a treaty into domestic law. In some countries, the legislature authorizes the executive to ratify a treaty. Under other constitutions, it approves the treaty. In both cases, legislative involvement is required in order to incorporate the treaty into domestic law.
