Arrangements which divide political power among competing political or regional groups, guaranteeing or encouraging the simultaneous participation of opposing groups. Power sharing arrangements are a mechanism for managing conflict and maintaining balance among deeply-divided groups. Power sharing measures can include, for instance, a grant of autonomy to a group in a certain territory, or a guarantee of a group's representation in government.
