Cote d'Ivoire opposition coalition rejects plans for a constitutional referendum

<p>An opposition coalition in Ivory coast has fiercely opposed plans by the Ivorian government to hold a referendum on a new constitution.</p><p>The group, comprising 23 parties, said the proposed referendum will dent democracy in the west African country, while arguing that there was no consultation with other political parties over the matter.&nbsp;<span style="line-height: 20.4px;">“We are seeking to mobilize all Ivorians. We are not alone, the vast majority of civil society is with us.We will ask all Ivorians to overwhelmingly reject the new constitution and we are convinced that it shall be so,” Bamba Moriféré, the coalition spokesperson said.</span></p>
