Italy amends constitution to recognize educational and social value of sport

On [20 September] the Chamber unanimously and definitively approved the inclusion of the promotion of sport in the Constitution. The legislative process began at the end of 2021, when the parliamentary majority supported Mario Draghi’s government, and also received cross-party support during this legislature. The measure provides for the insertion of this paragraph at the end of article 33 of the Constitution, which protects the so-called social rights: ["The Republic recognises the educational, social value and promotion of psychophysical well-being of sporting activity in all its forms"].
