Japan to back Nepal's effort to craft new constitution

<p>&nbsp;Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida on Wednesday expressed Japan's readiness to assist Nepal's initiative to formulate a new constitution. "It is important to ensure that democracy takes root (in Nepal). We would like to firmly support Nepal's efforts," Kishida said in a meeting with Nepalese Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey in Tokyo, part of which was open to the media.</p><p><br><br>It was the first meeting between Kishida and Pandey, who assumed his post in February.</p><p><br><br>Pandey said Nepalese people are eager to draw up a new constitution and its launch would help promote economic development.</p>
