Nigeria: Leadership denies allegations that it is putting pressure on delegates to adopt constitution
<p>Leadership of the national conference, on Monday, dissociated itself from allegation carried by a national daily (not the Nigerian Tribune) that it is mounting intense pressure on prominent northern delegates to adopt a new constitution at the conference.</p><p><br><br>Chairman of the conference, Justice Idris Kutigi, responding to the allegation linking the secretariat of the conference to the lobby of northern delegates, said he had no knowledge of such moves, adding that all committee reports and recommendations had been discussed openly at the plenary.</p><p><br><br>He said so far, none of them had suggested writing of a new constitution that would precipitate lobbying of any form.</p>
