Italian government's reform of judiciary will be put to referendum after parliamentary approval

The government's constitutional reform of the judiciary, including the separation of the career paths of prosecutors and judges so they can no longer switch between the two roles, completed its fourth and final reading in parliament on Thursday when it was approved by the Senate. [ . . . ] The law is set to be put to a referendum because it has failed to get the two-thirds support needed in both houses of parliament to obviate the need for one in the case of a change to the Constitution.
