Eritrea’s Presiden Afewerki announces launch of a new constitution drafting process

<p>&nbsp;In his address to the nation on the occasion of the 23rd Independence Day, President Isaias Afewerki highlighted Eritrea’s geo-political and colonial history which shaped Eritrea and the birth of the independence struggle starting with the early resistance to colonialism.</p><p><br>He continued his speech with the era after the cold war, where pre-World War II global orders placed Eritrea under Ethiopian rule as an autonomous federal province of Ethiopia instead of recognizing the independence and sovereignty of the Eritrean people.</p>
