Nepal: Government sets date for new constituent assembly elections

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Nepal’s interim government late Thursday set the date for elections into a new Constituent Assembly. The elections will take place on 19<sup>th</sup> November 2013.The body is expected to complete the writing of a new Constitution for the Himalayan country which has been governed by an <a href="../../../../../../../../vl/item/interim-constitution-nepal-2063-2007-amended-first-second-and-third-amendments">Interim Constitution</a> since the end of the civil war in 2008. The <a href="../../../../../../../../news/nepal-constituent-assembly-dissolved-parties-fail-agree-new-constitution">mandate of a previous Constituent Assembly elected in 2008 and given two years to produce a Charter finally lapsed following numerous extensions, in 2012 without finalizing the Constitution</a>.</p><p>
