Tanzania: Katiba referendum date reaafirmed

<p>The referendum for a new constitution will be held on April 30 as scheduled, the State House has reaffirmed. It has further stressed that everything currently being done is within the legal boundaries prescribed by the Constitution Review Act.</p><p>The Director of Presidential Communications, Mr Salva Rweyemamu, moved to allay fears that the referendum would not be held as planned at a news conference at the State House in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday.</p><p>He said preparations are within the schedule as stipulated within the law.</p><p>The directorate moved to make the clarification on Tuesday following a report in one weekly that “there were some certainties showing that the referendum would not likely be held on the earlier reported date’’.</p>
